Communications Coordinator, MACDC and Mel King Institute

I have recently finished interning with the Massachusetts Association of Community Development Corporations (MACDC), preparing for their virtual Lobby Day, where members of the nonprofit community spoke with their state lawmakers regarding housing policy in the Bay State. I informed a social media audience of MACDC’s efforts in public housing policy. In addition, I previewed the Mel King Institute’s Annual Breakfast ahead of their 2021 event. I also wrote blog articles highlighting community resiliency around Greater Boston. Finally, I organized social media plans, using programs such as Hootsuite, for both organizations to share their goals.

Casey Starr Spotlight

I got the chance to speak with Casey Starr, Director of Community Initiatives at Main South Community Development Corporation in Worcester, Massachusetts, to discuss how her organization has stepped up to assist the Main South neighborhood during a year so greatly impacted by COVID-19.

At MACDC’s Annual Lobby Day, the organization encourages a network of over 150 community leaders to speak with their state legislators and emphasize the importance of affordable housing policy. Watch the full virtual event above.

At the Mel King Institute’s 12th Annual Virtual Breakfast, the organization highlighted a year of unprecedented changes and celebrated community resilience across the Bay State.
